There are several things that you'll want to keep in mind as you prepare for your move. The following is a basic checklist that you can use to help guide some of your thoughts and actions to make sure you cover all the basics. A lot of these points may seem obvious, but under the stress and anxiety of planning for a move, they're easy to miss.
Try to create informative labels for all your boxes that include the name of the room where the contents came from, where they're going as well as exactly what is in each of the boxes you're packing up.
Even though these items may not necessarily strike you as being very heavy, they can be when they're all piled together. We recommend that you pack these items in small boxes.
People sometimes assume that all of these drawers that are typically filled with clothing, linens, and related items need to be emptied out but this is often not the case. These types of items are generally not very heavy so you can leave them inside the drawers. That being said, anything that might be considered valuable or fragile is best removed and drawers in divan beds should be emptied.
It's best to only pack a small handful of plants into a box - just make sure that you include some packing material in between the different potted plants to help prevent them from tipping over. Let us know if you have any large potted plants and we'll help you figure out the best way to move them.
Please make sure that you empty your fridges and freezers before moving and that you let the units defrost so they are as dry as possible when your move takes place.
Gas and electric cookers need to be disconnected and cleaned thoroughly before a move. We strongly recommend that you ask a professional to disconnect your cooker to be sure that everything is done in a safe and controlled manner. If you have a microwave, remember to remove the glass plate and pack it separately.
Some washing machines have a 'drum locking bar' which prevents the drum from spinning while it is being transported. If you know how to activate this on your washing machine, please do so as it will further reduce the risk of any damage occurring.
Remember to contact your gas company, electric company, and the local water authority to tell them when you are leaving your property so you can avoid any additional bills.
Please also make sure that we will be able to easily access your house, apartment or office. This easy access will dramatically improve the efficiency with which we can operate our removal service - reducing the stress for all involved.
